About this episode

In this episode of Jake for the State, I answer the question I’ve been getting over and over: Who am I supporting for Governor of Oklahoma — Mike Mazzei or Gentner Drummond? My decision isn’t based on personalities, campaign money, political alliances, or even endorsements. I approached this election by asking a more fundamental question: Which candidate is most closely aligned with the principles I believe should govern Oklahoma? I break down the candidates through the issues that matter most to me: limited government, taxes and spending, protection of life, education and parental authority, government accountability, DHS and child-welfare reform, property rights, Oklahoma’s land and resources, medical freedom, privacy, and individual liberty. And that support comes with an important qualification: I’ll support him when he’s right, challenge him when he’s wrong, and continue fighting for the principles I believed in long before this election. This episode is ultimately about something bigger than one election: Don’t choose a candidate and then change your principles to fit him. Start with your principles, know what you believe and why you believe it, and then measure the candidates against that standard. Principles before politics. Liberty before government.
